Once we reach Shimla, you’ll have some free time to explore the Ridge, check out the famous Christ Church, take a trip up to the Jakhoo Hill via the ropeway (at your own expense), and hit up the shopping hotspot – the Mall Road Shimla. After a day full of beautiful memories, you can relax and check in back to your hotel for a cozy night stay in Shimla.
After fueling up with breakfast, we’re hitting the road to explore Sarahan. On the way, we’ll take a detour to see some cool places like Kufri, Hassan Valley, the Kufri Mini Zoo, and Narkanda – which is a peak with a temple dedicated to Hatu Mata. This is a great spot to soak in some stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas.
Once we reach Sarahan, we’ll check into our hotel and get settled in. In the evening, we’ll attend the beautiful Aarti and visit the historic Bhimakali Temple – an 800-year-old temple that’s one of the best examples of Kaathkuni architecture and also one of the 51 Shaktipeeths. If the sky is clear, you’ll also be able to get a glimpse of Shrikhand Mahadev (1 of the 5 Kailash). After that, we’ll head back to our hotel for a good night’s sleep in Sarahan.
After a scrumtious breakfast, we’re setting off to explore Sangla. On the way, we’ll make a few stops to see Tranda Pass (a man-made road through the rocks) and the Karcham-Wangtoo Dam.
Once we arrive in Sangla, we’ll check out the Kamru village and take a short walk to the Kamru Fort – which is home to a temple dedicated to Kamaksha Devi. Sangla is a bustling village known for its apple orchards and beautiful scenery. It’s located on the right bank of the Baspa River and sits at an elevation of 2621 meters above sea level. You’ll love the unique look of the houses rising one above the other with the Raldang Peaks towering in the background.
In the evening, you’ll have some free time to wander around the Sangla market. Later, you may come and get some rest in your hotel in Sangla.
Today after breakfast, we’ll head over to Chitkul. This little village in the Kinnaur district of Himachal is the last village on the Indo-Tibet border. The village lies in the Baspa Valley which boasts of clear blue skies, beautiful meadows and snow-capped peaks.
Here you are free to explore, and you will be spending most of your time sitting by the banks of the Baspa river. We’ll later come back to Sangla in the evening for an overnight stay.
Today, we’ll start the day with a yummy breakfast and then head towardsthe charming village of Kalpa (about 2-3 hours away). On the way, we’ll make a pit stop in Recongeo and explore the local market. Recongpeo serves as the district headquarters of Kinnaur district as well as a great place to try authentic Indian or Tibetan cuisine!
Once we arrive in Kalpa, we’ll visit the nearby Roghi village, known for its gorgeous pine forests and delicious apricots & apples orchards.
Later, you’ll come back to Kalpa which itself is a real treat, sitting at 2,759 meters above sea level and rich with history. It offers a divine view of the holy Kinner Kailash peak – that’s over 6,000 meters tall! Kalpa houses a beautiful Buddhist monastery as well as an ancient Hindu temple. It was once the district headquarters of Kinnaur and even caught the eye of British Governor General Lord Dalhousie in the 19th century.
We’ll be spending the night in a cozy hotel in the Kalpa Valley.
We recommend you to get up early to catch the sunrise as it casts a beautiful golden glow on the snowy Kinner Kailash peak.
After breakfast, we will drive back to Shimla which is a 6-7 hours journey. On reaching Shimla, you may check-in to your hotel, drop your luggage, freshen up and take a stroll on the Mall Road to savour the taste of some exotic mouth-watering cuisines.
